"Brighton in the rain”
I’ve never been to Athens and

I’ve only seen the Pyramids in
picture books at home
I’ve never sailed across the sea or
been inside the plane
I’ve always spent my holidays in
Brighton in the rain.
I’ve never eaten foreign food or
drunk in a foreign bar
I’ve never kissed a foreign girl or
driven a foreign car
I’ve never had to find my way in a
country I don’t know
I’ve always known just where I’m and
where I’ll never go.
I’ve read travel books by writers
who have been to Pakistan
I’ve heard people telling stories of
adventures in Iran
I’ve watched TV documentaries about China
and Brazil
I’ve never been abroad myself; it’s
making me feel ill.
I’ve studied several languages like
Hindi and Malay

In autumn holidays the group of our school students visited Moscow. Listen to
some of them and say which places of interests they are telling you about.
Moscow is rich in museums. I want to tell you about the Tretyakov
gallery. It has the collection of Russian art and painters - Vasnetsov,
Shishkin, Repin, Levitan. It was founded by the Russian businessman Pavel
Tretyakov. The Tretyakov gallery is one of the famous sights of Moscow. Many
visitors come to the gallery and enjoy its masterpieces. We did it too.
The students of the grade: She told
us about ….
I would like to visit the Tretyakov
gallery. I am interested in art.
Vika has not been to Moscow, but she
has read about its sights, which place she is speaking about.
As for me I have never been to
Moscow, but I would recommend you to visit the circus on Tsvetnoi Boulevard. It
is one of the oldest circuses in Russia. It was opened in 1880. It has the
reputation of the best circus in the world and is famous for its good
programmes for children. People remember the brilliant clowns Karandash and
Oleg Popov. Yuri Nikulin worked there and now the circus is named after him –
the Nikulinsky circus.
The students of the grade: She spoke
about….
I feel like visiting the circus. I like trained animals/ clowns/
acrobats.

My niece travelled around Europe this year and
brought me a souvenir. It is a witch from Check Republic. Which British holiday is the witch associated
with? Why is the witch connected with it? Read the text to answer the
questions.
31 October is Halloween. The festival
celebrates the return of the souls of the dead who come back to visit places
where they lived. In the evening there are lots of parties. People dress up()
as witches, ghosts, devils. Houses are decorated with pumpkins with candles
inside them. Some children go from house to house, knock at them and ask "Trick
or Treat?” if you give them some money
or sweets, they go away. If not they can play a trick on you. No Halloween
party is complete without a scary story.
People tell a scary story in a low voice.
The witch is associated with Halloween/ New
Year.
Children dress up as witches/ draw (рисуют) witches on Halloween.
